No Places
Art Project
The photobook No Places compiles a series of photographs taken in Rovaniemi, Finland, for a group exhibition at Lapin Yliopisto (the University of Lapland). Rovaniemi, located just south of the Arctic Circle, is known for its unique Arctic landscapes and vibrant cultural scene, making it a fitting backdrop for exploring themes of transience and habitation.
The photographs in the collection are complemented by a video art piece titled Guest House, which together examine the concept of places that serve merely as transit points, often left uninhabited. The project invites viewers to reflect on these overlooked spaces, emphasizing how they shape our experiences and perceptions of both place and presence. Through striking visuals and thought-provoking narratives, No Places captures the essence of these ephemeral locations and their significance in our lives.
